From the private brand “KINUITO DAILY,” we will release a new product line “WASHI Collection” using the functional fiber “washi paper yarn” made from traditional Kyoto washi paper as raw material from October 1 (Tuesday). This is a new proposal unique to KINUITO, fusing Japanese traditional techniques with modern comfort.
Characteristics of Washi Paper Yarn
The Power of Materials Passed Down for 1000 Years Cutting washi paper handmade by craftsmen in Kurotani, Kyoto into thin strips and twisting them together to make yarn. Through this traditional technique, we were able to utilize the excellent functionality that washi paper originally possesses in clothing.
- Moisture absorption: About twice that of cotton, quickly absorbs sweat
- Quick drying: Dries as easily as polyester
- Antibacterial properties: Natural antibacterial action makes it less likely to smell
- Lightweight: As light as silk
- Durability: Texture persists even after repeated washing
Functionality comparable to synthetic fibers while being a natural material. This is the appeal of washi paper yarn.

Meeting of Tradition and Innovation
For development, we conducted joint research with washi paper craftsmen in Kurotani, Kyoto over two years. We pursued the optimal thickness and twisting method of washi paper for clothing use. Protecting tradition while creating products suited to modern lifestyles. We believe this is KINUITO’s mission.
Washi paper yarn is 100% natural material, yet hardly uses any chemicals in the manufacturing process. As a material that returns to the soil, environmental impact at disposal is also minimal.
Launch Commemorative Event

Demonstration events by washi paper craftsmen will be held at KINUITO DAILY flagship stores (Tokyo, Kyoto, Osaka). You can see up close the process of washi paper becoming yarn and then fabric.
